Data Protection Impact Assessment definition
A Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is a structured process required under Article 35 of the GDPR when processing is likely to result in a high risk to people's rights, for example large-scale video surveillance or systematic monitoring. It documents the purpose of the processing, assesses the risks to individuals, and sets out measures to reduce them.
Anonymizing faces and license plates is a common risk-reduction measure: removing personal data from images and video before it is shared or stored lowers the residual risk a DPIA must address. Gallio PRO supports this by anonymizing visual data locally, on the user's own machine.
